is governor romney with sean manty last night. >> what i find so offensive about his tax plan, by raising taxes on small business, as he does, he will kill jobs. and right now, what america needs, as much as anything else is more jobs, more jobs more take-home pay. is the whole focus of my campaign. i know what the president's been campaigning on and saying about me is very different than what i actually am, what i actually believe. that is where the difference came. what the president has been saying and reality are pretty far apart. martha: that in the mix this morning. a lot to add into the picture. senior nothing correspondent john roberts is live from st. petersburg, florida, today. that's where we find governor romney. he will hold a rally there later today. what about the aspect of truth of issue in this campaign, john? >> reporter: oh, this is turning out to be a real battle between taxes and the truth, martha. let's handle taxes first of all. governor romney on the stump is insisting his 20% across the board reduction in tax rates would benefit and middle class and small business

want to see if there is a trend. you would expect it would close. romney had a very good night and he diffused a lot of the attacks that obama has been making against him for the last few months. things like he is out of touch and he is as concerned about the rich and does not care about the middle class or he is a right-wing extremist. mitt romney did not come off that way on wednesday night. i would expect it to close in the states. here is the point, if obama had a really goodnight and romney had a very bad night with the polls all showing "bomb with a big lead in the wing states, a lot people would say this race is over. that it has gotten out of hand for romney given the fact it was exactly the opposite, a big romney win, now it is a very competitive race and it ensures it will go on. it ensures it will be a tight, tough, competitive race right to election day. >>trace: i think you are right. that is chris wallace, and you lay cornell tomorrow for a huge game and right now you are 3-0. >> the sunday broadcast on local networks includes sit down to democratic governor of maryland

romney we saw on wednesday night, we have to see it again and again and again. and his campaign, greg, needs to make us see him. we are a little stressed in analyzing this race that since thursday morning they are not capitalizing well enough. their tv ads are not running clips from the debate highlighting the great performance. it is not on the ads. >> it has changed a little bit. i want to ask you about the performants because people say well, that was not really president obama, he was off the game. if you actually watch president obama without a teleprompter in news conferences, he fumbles, stumbles and mumbles, he goes on and on like a recovery and he never answered the question. >> that is true. he did not draw a clear distinction between him record and the positions that governor romney has taken. john is right, he did not make the kind of charges he has made successfully about cutting medicare and medicaid, social security. the bottom line, romney was able to move to the center, obama fell apart, i think, even worse than you are saying. he looked like he was not up to the job.

's the plan to fix it? what's the goal? how are we going to do this? and whether -- in our polls, in romney's case. but the other night, he made a case. he said, i am going to get the economy going. this is how i'm going to do it. lots of people are going to debate that. but obama presented no plan on the key issue of jobs. >> sean: absolutely. now he has a problem. fewer yoagain. 2012, less than 2011, less than 2010. you know... government growth expanding. anyway, bob, congratulations on the success of the book. always like having you back. thank you for being with us. >> sean: coming up next, we are rallyingarn the new economic patriot. >> that is rooted in the core belief that built this country. >> sean: economic patriotism, the president can be the be talking about $6 trillion in new debt. is this the new buzzword for fair share? when we come back, the one and only charles krauthammer will weigh in, straight ahead. hahahaha! hooohooo, hahaha! this is awesome! folks who save hundreds of dollars switching to geico sure are happy. i'd say happier than a slinky on an escalator. get happy.
